A career in our Capital Projects and Infrastructure Risk Assurance team will provide you with the opportunity to work on a wide variety of capital projects across Canada, the Americas and Globally. You will work with a team who focuses on advising our clients to enhance their capital project governance, risk management and controls to achieve project objectives. As a Capital Projects & Infrastructure Senior Manager you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead teams in the review of complex capital projects including but not limited to: reviewing project schedules and budgets, independent validation of project data, extrapolation and forecasting of project performance, reviewing project risk assessments, assessing change management processes and controls
Lead the development of project management processes as well as the development, implementation, and monitoring of project control processes
Be accountable for end deliverables/work products (ie lead the team for writing reports, creating presentations, drafting processes etc)
Carry out project assurance work in an optimal fashion in compliance with deadlines and budgetary requirements outlined in the planning phase and ensure the project team has documented clear and concise assurance evidence obtained during the execution of the engagement and validating their relevance and quality of information
Conduct analyses of process and control deficiencies noted during the course of the engagement analyzing root causes, and recommending practical solutions for remediation
Lead/conduct all internal risk management steps for planning of engagements and upholding the firm's code of ethics and business conduct
Develop working relationships and present to senior project managers and executives, driving impactful conversations with senior client leaders
Independently source and define business opportunities for the Capital Projects & Infrastructure group, and lead a cross functional team to create proposals/RFP responses. Developing compelling white papers, thought leadership and points of view, describing the business challenge and proposed business solutions
Developing internal and external relationships and networks to be tenacious in the market for selling services. Develop an in-depth understanding of various sectors such as mining, transportation, utilities or energy to allow for gathering evidence from the environment you are working in, interpreting and recommending improvements to clients
Pursuing opportunities to develop existing and new skills outside of comfort zone
Coaching others and encourage them to take ownership of their development
Advise clients on best practices in the management of capital and infrastructure projects, and support them in the implementation of these recommendations
Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve
Significant “boots on the ground” guiding full cycle project experience including: project management, project governance, reporting & KPIs (EVM, CPI, SPI), project risk management, project controls, scheduling, and post project review
Demonstrated experience with large capital projects (i.e. $500M to > 1B) including large infrastructure initiatives in in the Public Sector (Municipal, Provincial, Federal)
Capable to assess and manage procurement, contracts, supply chain, logistics. Confident to design, guide, and implement capital risk assurance strategies
Working experience with commissioning and transfer to operations of constructed assets
Familiar with AACE RPs as applied to cost estimates, basis of estimate, schedule development, basis of schedule etc.
Exposure to internal auditing and/or regulatory compliance in relation to procurement, maintenance, capital projects, contract management
In depth knowledge of Engineering, Construction, Quality Management, Scope and Change management
Exceptional relationship management, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills (in relation to construction disputes)
Nice to have a degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, business administration and/or finance). A professional designation such as an engineer (P.Eng or EIT) and/or in project management (PMP) will be considered an asset
Ability to analyze data (cost, schedule, quality, financial, operational) and deploy common tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau
Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Acumen Fuse
Successful with developing new business, responding to proposals and guiding complex bids. Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
Highly motivated to guide and work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
Based in Calgary or Toronto but will be expected to support work assignments across Canada
A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside and/or coaching diverse people and perspectives
